Mase Reveals His Whereabouts on the Night The Notorious B.I.G. Was Killed

In a recent interview, Harlem rap legend Mase opened up about his chilling experience on the night The Notorious B.I.G. was tragically gunned down in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997.

Mase on the night The Notorious BIG was killed

Mase revealed that while Biggie’s life was taken that fateful night, he was trapped in his hotel room with a young lady, unable to leave due to the heavy gang presence outside. According to Mase, 70 Bloods were stationed outside his door, waiting for him. The tension in the city was at an all-time high following the death of 2Pac, and Bad Boy Records artists were seen as targets on the West Coast.

Mase explained that it wasn’t until Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, came to his rescue that he was able to safely leave the hotel. However, he also revealed a shocking detail—Diddy had already left Los Angeles, leaving Mase stranded and fearing for his life.

“I had to make my way to Las Vegas just to leave the West Coast,” Mase said.

The revelation adds another layer to the already complex and controversial history between Mase and Diddy, as Mase has previously called out the Bad Boy mogul for mistreatment and lack of support during his career.

Mase’s account of that terrifying night sheds light on the chaotic environment surrounding Biggie’s murder and the danger that many Bad Boy artists faced during that era.
